Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for an Avionics Integration Engineer providing support to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center/Airborne Warning and Control System (AFLCMC/HBS/WIW). The Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) Division, has the collective Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) mission responsibility to deliver airborne Battle Management Command & Control (BMC2) capabilities that support joint, allied, coalition, humanitarian, and homeland defense operations. Modernization efforts enable continued involvement with worldwide operations by revitalizing legacy mission systems, replacing aging computer architectures, integrating multi‑sensor data fusion, and improving global expeditionary readiness and availability. Additionally, the Division assists in the planned divestiture of the E‑3 platform and in shaping development of follow‑on capabilities for future airborne C2 systems.

 

This is a full time Hybrid position located at Tinker AFB, OK.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Provide advisory assistance in developing system concepts, and in performing technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs.

  • Apply the principles, criteria, and procedures of Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 5000.1 and DoDD 5000.2R as well as the policies and processes of Headquarters (HQ) AFMC and AFLCMC Engineering Directorate to all SOF acquisition engineering tasks.
  • Support general engineering requirements as they relate to avionics integration responsibilities for aircraft research, development, production, and lifecycle acquisition and sustainment activities and as further described in this section

  • Provide systems and avionics engineering support and technical expertise in the areas of requirements generation, systems design and integration, development, modification, test, airworthiness, production, sustainment, deployment, operations, and divestiture as required.

  • Provide technical expertise in maintenance systems integration, design to test, integrated diagnostics, and electronic support equipment.

  • Interface with other system acquisition elements, higher headquarters, DoD, Government laboratories, industry, and universities.  

  • Assist in providing avionics engineering, consultation, and support to design, develop, manufacture, integrate, test, and deploy supportable airborne weapon systems, including integrated avionics, embedded computer systems, software, and electronic maintenance systems.

  • Provide advisory assistance and apply systems engineering processes related to the following:airworthiness; system requirements; mission critical software releases; software plans and processes; metric and requirements development and traceability; functional and physical allocations; program protection elements; entry and exit criteria development for technical reviews; configuration audits; logical analysis; design solution and implementation; interface and interoperability integration; and test verification and validation.

  • Provide advisory assistance and draft documentation support to conduct reviews and studies, performance requirements, and support avionics system level integration.

  • Provide advisory assistance to ensure the application of systems integration, interface management, test, reliability and maintainability, accreditation and certification, technology transfer, manufacturing readiness, Programmatic Environmental, Safety and Occupational Evaluation (PESHE), and Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) processes are IAW DoDI 6055.05 Occupational and Environmental Health and AFI 48-145 Occupational Health Program policies and standards.

  • Provide advisory assistance in the development, deployment, and maintenance of technical processes designed to develop and sustain products acquired while ensuring safe operation and maintenance of systems and forces, and assist the Government by providing knowledge, expertise and guidance to produce artifacts where required in the following areas: systems integration, OSS&E; airworthiness certification per the latest version of MIL-HDBK-516; safety per MIL-STD-882; and AFI 63-1201, Life Cycle Systems Engineering.

  • Provide advisory assistance in the development, deployment, and maintenance of training systems, to include modeling and simulation.

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance:  Must hold an active Secret clearance 

 

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 3 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 3 of which must be in the DoD OR

    • 7 years of directly related experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft systems integration, including avionics, flight controls, electrical power, hydraulic-pneumatic, environmental control, aerial refueling, and auxiliary/emergency power systems.
  • Experience evaluating aircraft modification and integration approaches to ensure compliance with airworthiness, operational performance, and mission requirements
  • Proficiency in conducting aircraft subsystem analysis and technical assessments to identify integration challenges and support design viability.
  • Familiarity with aircraft sustainment and integrity programs, including Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E), Mechanical Equipment and Subsystem Integrity Program (MECSIP), Avionics Integrity Program (AVIP), and Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP).
  • Knowledge of corrosion prevention and control methodologies, aircraft mechanical equipment, and subsystem lifecycle management.
  • Ability to support acquisition and sustainment activities for commercial derivative and military aircraft platforms throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite to develop technical documentation, briefings, engineering analyses, and program reports.
