Position Summary

Odyssey Systems is recruiting for a Sr. Capture Manager to support growth in our Life Sciences Business Unit. The prime responsibility will be the capture of strategic new business programs for medical and life sciences markets. Duties include providing input to the Corporate Strategic Plan, then identifying and pursuing business opportunities and strategies that fulfill the Corporate Strategic vision while executing the Plan. Duties may include management and facilitation of a multi-disciplined team comprised of Odyssey employees from various sites around the CONUS, as well as Odyssey subcontractors that may be comprised of large and small businesses. The Sr. Capture Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, Life Sciences and report directly to the Executive Director, Growth.

 

Responsibilities

Our focus within the Life Sciences Group includes research support services and solutions that aim to improve warfighter health, performance, resilience and readiness, and to develop healthcare solutions for medical treatment facilities in the Government sector. We provide subject matter expertise across a diverse range of therapeutic areas to support basic and applied research, pre-clinical and clinical investigation, regulatory compliance for research involving humans and animals, acquisition, and program administration.
Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Leadership and execution for the success of all assigned Capture efforts.
  • Identify and evaluate desirable opportunities for the corporate funnel and pipeline
  • Gather, assess, and validate customer requirements. Identify customer needs, concerns, and constraints that impact winning solution
  • Translate requirements into a win strategy, advance strategy with a strong value proposition and differentiate bid elements based on compelling features and benefits
  • Support the proposal development process by providing necessary capture artifacts to the proposal team and participate in the Kickoff/Pink/Red Team Reviews
  • Define or oversee conceptual solution and strategies for winning each opportunity including the initial Theming/Storyboarding efforts and transition the capture artifacts to the assigned proposal team
  • Develop, document and execute the Capture Management Plan and associated strategies for each capture program including:
  • Conduct requirement analysis
  • Conduct the Competitive Analysis
  • Conduct capability assessments and gap analyses for Capture Programs
  • Conduct Prime vs Sub analysis
  • Conduct price to win analysis
  • Provide teaming plan
  • Develop Call Plan and the other components of a successful capture program
  • Develop Client Hot Buttons
  • Conduct timely reviews of programs in the Capture Phase including Stage 0, 1 and 2 reviews to company management
  • Analyze Post Award feedback and recommend improvements to the Capture Process
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Corporate BD Repository
  • Develop and document customer, partner, and competitor profiles
  • Significantly contribute to meeting or exceeding the annual sales and profitability goals as established by the Company
  • Work with the Executive Director, Life Sciences on strategies for short-, mid- and long-term goals and brief the Executive Leadership team at offsite meetings
  • Work on expanding Odyssey’s reputation/engagement
  • Travel to life science conferences and current employee & customer sites

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Business or Technical Discipline

Years of Experience: At least ten (10) years of comparable experience and at least five (5) years in a similar role supporting medical R&D/life sciences growth

 

Preferred Qualifications

Clearance: Active Public Trust or Secret Clearance

Education: Master’s degree preferred

 

Technical Skills

  • Previous business development/capture experience in the military medical/life sciences arena.
  • Previous senior management experience in the delivery of technical and management services.
  • Familiarity with military medical capabilities supporting research and development (preclinical, clinical, regulatory compliance and translational support), health IT, data analytics, healthcare staffing, pandemic support
  • Familiarity with Federal government operations execution and acquisition processes
  • Familiarity with DoD (Air Force, Army, Navy), HHS (NIH, CDC, FDA, ASPR), MHS and VA, including affiliated research institutes
  • Recent knowledge of the DC/VA/MD, San Antonio, Dayton, San Diego, and other geographic markets supporting military medical research
  • Ability to assess and develop strategic plans and energize others to achieve related goals.
  • Ability to negotiate NDAs and Teaming Agreements.
  • Prove capabilities with capture strategies, tools and processes, including capture/customer relationship tool, stage/gate reviews, solution sessions, Black Hats, PTW analysis, etc.
  • Exceptional ability to comprehend medical/scientific/technical RFIs and RFPs.
  • Previous business development experience supporting and writing major proposals.
  • Experience with compliance of state and federal laws.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
