Position Summary

Power your purpose. Support the Future of Air Force Command and Control as part of the Department of the Air Force Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications and Battle Management (DAF PEO C3BM).

 

Odyssey Systems seeks a proactive, driven Agile DEVSECOPS Systems Engineer focused on user interface design to join a small and elite team for DAF PEO C3BM to advise and assist on internal toolsets.  This toolset will make it easy for users to transform raw data into actionable financial and program management intelligence, and give the necessary insight to effectively invest into cutting-edge IT.

 

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Assist in the design, plans, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of Python-based applications and services.
  • Advisor on the development and integration of RESTful APIs to connect various data sources and systems while maintaining system interoperability.
  • Assist on the implementation of robust data processing pipelines for analysis and reporting to meet system concepts and user requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager/Analyst and UI Developer to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Assist on the documentation and maintainable code following best practices by advising on code reviews and contributing to architectural discussions that support the development of plans to implement chosen solutions.
  • Assist with the troubleshooting and debug issues while providing timely resolutions for systems.
  • Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics. Prepares management reports and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using application of engineering economy principles
  • Perform validation of systems, including development of criteria and procedures. Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to: acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight
  • Ensure software solutions adhere to security protocols and performance standards within the classified environment.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including design specifications and user guides.
  • Ensure the data is properly and efficiently ingested into the tool on a periodic basis to deliver updated, usable data that meets end-user expectations.
  • Advisor on design and implementation of geospatial data solutions using PostGIS to support advanced spatial queries and analysis.

 

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

ClearanceMust have and be able to maintain a Top Secret level clearance and have current SCI access

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Python development.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including experience with relevant libraries and frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI, NumPy, Pandas).
  • Demonstrated experience with API design, integration, and development.
  • Experience with database integration (e.g., SQL, NoSQL databases), including PostGIS or similar GIS extensions.
  • Proficiency with version control systems, particularly Git.
  • Experience with software testing methodologies, including unit and integration testing.
  • Experience supporting systems within DoD or intelligence community environments, with a strong grasp of classified system deployment practices.
  • Experience with data visualization libraries or tools.
  • Experience with Agile methods and Continuous Integration/Continuous Development, Development, Security and Operations (DevSecOps) and Development and Operations (DevOps) preferred
  • Understanding and experience with Agile software development best practices specifically Scaled Agile Framework, DevOps and Agile sprint planning
  • Ability to guide development efforts in the effective use of standards to achieve mission capabilities with Agile standards, as applicable
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Understanding of data science principles and machine learning concepts.

 

Additional Skills Requested:

Experience designing and working with PostgreSQL databases, including writing efficient queries and supporting structured data storage for analytics and integration

 

 

Additional Information

Location: Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA

Travel: 0-10% per customer's discretion

This is an on-site position and is 5 days a week on-base.

Please note: Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as the Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
