Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time role at Peterson SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.  In this role you will be responsible for ensuring software and hardware developed by Government contractors meets the Government specifications and will operate within the weapons system without degradation to the system.  The Program Office supports and sustains five Space/Missile Defense (MD) and MW Upgraded Early Warning Radars (UEWRs) across North America and Europe, which provide early warning ballistic missile detection, acquisition, classification, and tracking of ballistic missile attack, 24-hours per day, 365 days per year.  The radars are also capable of detecting, identifying, and tracking man-made objects in low-earth orbit.

 

 

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Provide technical expertise and systems engineering skills, including systems requirements definition and decomposition, top-level systems design, integration, test design, test coverage analysis, and deployments
  • Ability to interact professionally with DoD end users, DoD customer, and contractor support personnel. This includes the ability to prepare and present briefings to these personnel
  • Provide analysis support services of technical documentation encompassing all documents that may be presented throughout the entire systems engineering and product lifecycle, including, but not limited to, Concepts of Operation (CONOPs), System/Subsystem Design Descriptions, Interface Control Documents, System Requirements Review packages, Preliminary and Critical Design Review packages, Test Readiness Review packages, Technical Manuals, Test Plans and Test Procedures and FCA/PCAs
  • Provide system/program engineering, technical support, and technical training to support programs/initiatives, including but not limited to: acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight
  • Provide engineering support to conduct formal trade studies based on engineering performance, effectiveness, cost effectiveness, cost performance, life cycle cost, feasibility, capability, reliability, maintainability, risk, and schedule.
  • Provide technical recommendation support services, including reviews, studies, audits, evaluations and analyses, scientific and procedural guidance, documentation, technical analysis, and support of associated engineering IPTs
  • Provide proposal analysis support services that compare and quantify proposed systems, components, approaches for technical feasibility, compatibility, and cost effectiveness
  • Provide concepts and requirements analyses support services including, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing DoD requirements, assessments, concept, strategy, and audit documentation
  • Perform program reviews to evaluate alternative proposed plans, systems engineering programs, design, and test results to assure that subsystem and system performance is achieved in accordance with program specifications
  • Perform reviews and prepare technical documents that define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics. Prepare management reports and conduct technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using the application of engineering economy principles
  • Conduct reviews on the program portfolio to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system-level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance are achieved in accordance with approved specifications
  • Review and analyze system concepts and user requirements that have been approved and entered into a system requirements baseline (functional, allocated, and product)
  • Provide concepts and requirements analyses support services, but not limited to, reviewing and analyzing: Initial Capabilities Documents (ICDs), Capability Development Documents (CDDs), Capability Production Documents (CPDs), Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Military Utility Assessments (MUAs), and Technology Development Strategies

 

 

 

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Must have an active DoD Secret clearance, eligible for TS/SCI and be able to maintain it

Education: High School Diploma

Years of Experience: 15 years’ directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the functionally aligned job description, 8 of which must be in the DoD; OR,

  • BA/BS degree and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD; OR,
  • MA/MS degree and 10 years of experience in the respective technical/ professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD

Additional Experience: 

  • Have the advanced knowledge, experience and demonstrated ability to perform tasks related to the technical/professional discipline as a senior Systems Engineer
  • Possess the ability to oversee and guide the efforts of junior and mid-level engineers
  • Have a comprehensive understanding and ability to apply systems engineering standards, procedures and practices
  • Ability to work independently and apply the proper procedures and processes related to the area of expertise

 

Preferred Qualifications

Education: BA/BS degree 

Years of experience: 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 5 of which must be in the DoD

 

 

 

Additional Information

Location: Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO 

Travel: Potential for travel CONUS and OCONUS (Approximately 20%)

Remote, On-site, or Hybrid: Hybrid-Telework capabilities for local candidates (percentage of telework allowed will vary based on the customer's discretion.)
