Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Engineer at Redstone Arsenal, in Huntsville, Alabama. This effort supports the Strategic Integrated Kinetic Effects (STRIKE) Project Office (PO), which has been tasked to field the Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW) and Mid-Range Capability (MRC) Army weapon systems.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Provide engineering and scientific expertise in the planning, development, and execution of requirements reviews and design reviews for LRHW and MRC weapon systems and any other weapon systems reporting to the PO.
  • Assist in the development of assessment briefings and coordinate requirements review and design review summary reports as part of Milestone Documentation requirements and PEO and other agency independent assessment requirements.
  • Provide technical input to the formulation of Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to include recommendations on statements of work (SOW), Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRL), and Document Summary Lists (DSL).
  • Support and maintain the document repository containing all CDRLs system specifications, data requirements, and associated attachments.
  • Provide technical, engineering, and management support for the planning, direction, and control of programs.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation such as evaluations, reports, studies, briefings, recommended specifications, draft standards, and commercial item descriptions for LRHW and MRC product development.
  • Provide technical recommendations and expertise in missiles and the interface between munitions and launcher systems to include: source selection and other evaluation/contracting efforts.
  • Perform trade-off studies and risk assessment analysis of candidate systems and provide approaches to mitigate the risks.
  • Provide inputs to the integrated master schedule such as should cost, schedule, and production status for the LRHW and MRC programs.
  • Provide technical expertise to briefings, meetings, working groups, core teams to include development and refinement of briefing materials and suggested responses to action items, as well as support to acquisition reviews and Configuration Steering
    Boards and planning activities for LRHW and MRC programs.
  • Provide engineering and scientific expertise in all aspects of guidance and control systems including sensors, guidance technologies, navigation and control devices, data and guidance links, electronics, computer/processor hardware, software and
    associated interfaces for weapons systems.
  • Provide system engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering analysis and evaluation support during launcher system development, integration and test for relevant navigation guidance and control (G&C) systems electronics, hardware,
    software and associated interfaces.
  • Provide technical support for LRHW and MRC in coordinating user requirements for launcher systems, technology insertions, and potential performance enhancements such as capability gap analysis and weapon system upgrade planning to include
    insertion points and integration risks.
  • Provide technical expertise in electronic hardware and computer hardware/software technology in support of development, integration and test of the LRHW and MRC weapon systems during all program lifecycle phases.
  • Provide program representatives in prime/subcontractor status reviews, working groups, design reviews, risk management reviews, schedule reviews and other program meetings at the PO, the prime contractor and subcontractor facilities, and other
    locations.
  • Provide the expertise for the assessment of design review documentation and the preparation of inputs for assessment reports.
  • Provide engineering, and technical expertise for studies; evaluations of technologies; development, and review of technology developments as candidates for spiral development enhancements for STRIKE programs; participate in the technology/demonstration planning meetings; and assess other services technology development to seek opportunities to leverage other available or future technologies.
  • Assist the Government in development, preparation and coordination of plans for systems improvements to address Insensitive Munitions (IM) requirements and other safety related initiatives, and support IM demonstration programs including the test and evaluation portions as well as design reviews.
  • Assist in the evaluation of weapon system requirements, to include but not limited to, power, weight, range, time-of-flight, and lethality to determine feasibility or functional adequacy for current and future systems.
  • Assist the PO in the generation and submission of weapon system concept of operations (CONOPS) documentation to include nonstandard crypto key handling of the weapon systems managed by this PO.
  • Assist the PO by providing inputs for modernization of affected weapon systems.
  • Provide technical support and engineering expertise in modeling and simulation theory, high-level architecture, planning, development, verification and validation, and simulation execution for the evaluation and analysis of models and simulations
    developed by Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) prime contractors and subcontractors and assess the viability for use as Government tools.
  • Support the coordination of assessment of the adequacy of models and simulations to represent weapon system performance against defined targets. 
  • Provide technical expertise to the integrated logistics activities to include analysis of depot maintenance; logistics support analysis, technical publications, and inventory analysis.
  • Provide technical expertise to STRIKE in support of materiel release and the fielding of future STRIKE LRHW and MRC variants to include preparing Type Classification and standardization documentation.
  • Provide technical expertise in design, development, analysis, modeling, production, test and evaluation for missile systems; integration of lethal mechanisms on systems.
  • Provide technical expertise in support of the microelectronics obsolescence management to include the management of mitigation efforts associated with obsolete or soon to be obsolete microelectronic parts. As directed by the Government, you would interface with the OEM prime contractor and subcontractors to assess and discuss claims of obsolescence and to subsequently interface with test range personnel to validate these claims. The contractor shall relay findings to the Government for a mitigating decision by the Government and communicate this mitigation decision with all affected parties.
  • Develop briefings for the PO, outlining the current status of parts obsolescence and the status of mitigation efforts underway and communicate the above status at the Parts Management Working Group (PMWG) with the PO, prime contractor and subcontractors.
  • Provide technical expertise in support of the development, integration, and testing of the LRHW and MRC development and production programs. This effort includes interfacing with the OEM prime and subcontractors and creating or modifying
    Performance Specifications, SOW, Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and other documents to communicate design requirements and intent and system architectures as required by the Government Lead.
  • Communicate as required with Other Government Organizations (OGAs) such as the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) and test ranges to relay test directions and priorities.
  • Provide systems engineering support for the LRHW and MRC launcher, battery operations center and variants design changes. This includes review of proposed design changes and recommendations, with rationale, as to whether to approve or disapprove the proposed change.
  • Provide systems engineering analysis and draft programmatic development plans and schedules for all proposed system upgrades to LRHW and MRC Ground Support Equipment (GSE) as directed by the Government Lead.
  • Assess and articulate system level impacts in the introduction of new software defined radios, wireless intercom systems, crypto key handling devices and military grade GPS devices.
  • Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure to formulate plans for implementing these proposed system changes.
