Odyssey is looking for a Bioinformatician Level V to support the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) Multi-drug resistant organism Repository and Surveillance Network (MRSN) by providing in real-time surveillance of Multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria and outbreak investigation assistance across the entire Military Healthcare System (MHS).

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Ability to working with bacterial genomes, antibiotic resistance, and mobile genetic elements.
• Ability to lead and develop a team of scientists with an emphasis on bacterial genomics and bacterial surveillance.
• Ability to write scientific publications developing and analyzing large datasets of bacterial genomes and extensive knowledge of data visualization software for microbial genetics and programming languages including Python and Perl
• Ability to efficiently convey information from complex datasets to a wide audience and international recognition and visibility in the forms of invited lectures, expert panels, or memberships in the field of antimicrobial resistance is required.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: NACI (able to obtain) 

Education: PhD in Molecular Microbiology, Bioinformatics, or equivalent with an emphasis on bacterial genomics

Years’ experience: 10 years of experience in Bioinformatics and microbial genomics

Additional Information:

Location: Available onsite at WRAIR, TAMC, BAMC, and LRMC, Germany 100% of the time

Travel: 25%

Remote, Onsite, or Hybrid: Onsite
