Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has a thrilling new Maritime Domain Awareness project that requires a dynamic team of engineers to design, build, test, and deliver security and surveillance vehicles and platforms for the Egyptian Navy. This opportunity allows you to build upon your current experience while working with the latest sea-based surveillance technologies. This is an exciting new opportunity for a Electrical Engineer with experience in one or more of the following areas: network and communication engineering, electrical engineering, EO/IR and RADAR sensors systems, or power, HVAC, and generator integration and test.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will participate in the electrical design, integration, test, and delivery of multiple security and surveillance sensor systems networked across multiple platforms working together to detect, identify, and track objects of interest.  You will provide engineering and technical support to other mechanical, structural, electrical, and test engineers, and foster a team environment to perform analysis, develop requirements, define problems, and create and implement solutions for complex problems.

**Availability of position is contingent upon contract award**

Responsibilities

You will report directly to the Engineering Lead and become an integral part of the engineering team. You and your team will be responsible for the research, design, implementation, and integration of sensors, platforms, computer systems, and network solutions as guided by the systems requirements documents. Design and integration work to develop the first article will be documented as part of a greater Technical Data Package. The team will thoroughly test the first article of each system to gain approval for production.

Once the systems are produced, they will be delivered to Egypt for installation, configuration, and final testing.  Sensors and platforms will be installed below the sea, on land, and on land-based communication towers.  System components will be powered by solar, generator, battery, or shore power and many of the systems will have a hybrid power solution.

To accomplish the goals above, you should be an excellent communicator, able to apply principles and techniques of disciplined engineering analysis, and provide attention to detail throughout the engineering process.

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Draft, review, and provide input during the design and development of the overarching system
  • Provide input to documents and diagrams to represent the electrical portions of the system components, sub-components, and component integrations.
  • Provide technical recommendations including reviews, studies, evaluations, and scientific and procedural guidance
  • Support development of system integration plans, procedures, and scenarios
  • Participate in trade studies to support the selection of preferred design solutions, commercial hardware and software components, and preferred course of action alternatives in project development and system delivery.
  • Analyze and evaluate test results for complex system and subsystem test and evaluation activities.
  • Develop criteria and procedures to perform validation of systems during assembly, load testing, and operational use using measurement and tolerance.
  • Perform troubleshooting methods to detect problems, identify root cause, and recommend resolution of system issues and deficiencies.
  • Document and maintain detailed functional requirements relative to the solution to ensure traceability analysis.
  • Familiarization, development, and support of the following documents is required:
    • Interface Control Documents (ICD)
    • Capability Development Document (CDD)
    • Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM)
    • System / Subsystem Design Document (SSDD)
    • System Engineering Plans (SEPs)
    • System tests plans, test scenarios, test reports, acceptance test descriptions
    • System Installation Plans
    • Standard Operators Procedures (SOPs)
    • Engineering activities such as Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), Production Readiness Review (PRR), and Program Management Review (PMR).
