Position Summary

Odyssey Systems is currently seeking a Senior Sensor Modeling and Simulation Engineer to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) Electromagnetic and Sensor Systems Department (B) through their Advanced Sensor Systems Division B40 and Sensor Data Exploitation Division B60 support multiple Navy and Marine Corps Radar Systems. B40 provides Sensor Systems expertise across the entire acquisition Life-Cycle from concept exploration through sustainment of Navy and Marine Corps Radar Systems.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Support the development and execution of Systems Engineering Plans requirements identification through design verification to ensure user requirements; planned and executed engineering strategies in accordance with approved project acquisition strategies and plans; report contract execution status, provide support to all program acquisition and management review activities;establish and maintain requirements specifications; capabilities documents; requirements baselines (i.e., functional, allocated, and product baselines);  interface control documents to facilitate development and verification.
  • Research and develop System/Subsystem specification documents. These documents shall include an assessment of the compliance, completeness, and consistency of component and interface requirements with current and evolving system requirements, information architecture, and system design.
  • Assess the flow down of operational requirements to systems functions and assess allocation of desired system functions to Hardware/Software (HW/SW) systems.
  • Support Government program managers by conducting research and reviewing requirements analysis to ensure that appropriate system and component solutions are developed.
  • Facilitate efforts to baseline, revise, and maintain requirements documents.
  • Plan, perform, and present results for modeling and simulation efforts: for training and exercise scenarios; for system performance prediction; and for system performance assessments.
  • Support the planning and execution of engineering strategies in accordance with approved project acquisition strategies and plans.
  • Support model and simulation accreditation efforts through:
    • Tool analysis for accuracy and fidelity of outputs
    • Comparing the results of one tool to another
    • Comparing modeled results to system data
    • Supporting Simulation Control Panels and Accreditation Review Panels
    • Providing draft technical assessment plans and assessment results.
  • Perform requested aspects of technical analysis and systems engineering support to facilitate aspects of architecture design, interoperability, specification analysis and development, solutions implementation and systems sustainment of supported projects.
  • Decompose high-level system requirements.
    • Develop analysis tools to verify system performance.
    • Participate in system integration events with the combat system and platform.
    • Utilize model based systems engineering processes, methodologies, tools, and techniques, as required by individual technical instructions/projects, in execution of tasks

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

 

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Active Secret 

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree from an a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum in one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering;

OR

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics

OR

A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics

OR

A Ph.D degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineer, Electronics Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics.

Years’ experience: 

  • Minimum fifteen (15) years since award of Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum twelve (12) years since award of Master’s degree
  • Minimum eight (8) years since award of Ph.D degree
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience design, development and implementation of technical products and systems related to primary Navy and Missile Defense Agency defensive systems involved in this requirement and of threat phenomenology that effect these defensive systems.
  • Experience in the following: modeling a scene including environment and threats to characterize sensor performance; sizing sensors to obtain desired capabilities against specified threats.
  • Experience in one or more of the following
    • Advanced signal processing; weapon system engineering; debris simulation;
    • Monte Carlo 6-degree-of-freedom flight modeling;
    • Radar design;
    • Software development;
    • RF Signature modeling
  • Experience includes resolving highly complex technical issues and conducting advanced research for developmental and operational weapon systems programs.
  • Experience in recommending alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and procedures. Has extensive engineering knowledge of and is considered an expert in one or more engineering specialties defined in this requirement. Experience leading large interdisciplinary teams and working independently regarding very complex engineering, scientific or programmatic issues.
  • Demonstrated capability in packaging and communicating data products for effective communication
