Position Summary

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Test Engineer, supporting USSOCOM DET I at Eglin AFB, Florida. 

 

**Availability of Position is contingent upon contract award**

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

 

  • Support USSOCOM DET 1 and other SOF organizations in accomplishing their missions by conducting research, development, integration, and testing and evaluation in support of SOF-unique fixed wing, rotary wing, and Special Warfare airman systems. 
  • Develop an optimal process for the T&E of directed SOF airborne/ground systems and subsystems.

    • Evaluating the testing needs of prototypes and fielded systems.

    • Support test and safety planning, execution, and reporting, including for demonstrations and support to operational events. The testing process specified in the plans shall involve a discussion of data collection and evaluation methods, employ realistic operational scenarios, and meet all testing requirements specified by the Government.

    • Execute applicable deficiency tracking and reporting processes for each tested system and subsystem and participate in integrated product teams (IPTs) as directed. 

  • Ensure all requirements are met and documented.
  • Develop test plans and write quick-look and final reports.

    • Includes test plan development, test execution, test observation, test assistance, and test assessment/reporting. 

  • Ensure that all hardware, software, test equipment, instrumentation, supplies, facilities, and personnel are available and in place to conduct or support each scheduled test and be capable of furnishing technical personnel at test sites to perform such testing.

  • Support developmental and operational testing on SOF systems and subsystems including but not limited to: Strike, Mobility, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), and SW. This support may include but is not limited to acting as government approved test conductors and directors ensuring adherence to all safety and test requirements, ground and air system pre-flight checklists, ground and air test process facilitation, and electromagnetic interference and electromagnetic compatibility tests. Testing conducted by contractor test personnel provide the Government decision-quality data by:

    • Planning testing geared towards the specification and/or operational requirements of a new system or existing upgraded/modified system.
    • Assisting the Government in the execution of efficient testing which optimizes test opportunities.
    • Analyzing the resulting qualitative and quantitative data.
    • Reporting the data in a timely manner to Government decision makers.
    • Providing flight-qualified Full Time Equivalents (EFT)s.
    • Managing the operations and schedule of all test assets as directed by Det 1.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications:

 

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Current Top Secret Clearance, SCI eligibility 

Education/Experience: 

  • M.S./Engineering degree in an aerospace-related concentration 
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in sensitive/classified aircraft T&E projects. 
  • Minimum of five years of direct experience in SOF aircraft/weapon systems related T&E.
  • Experience in SOF weapon systems development and/or testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Clearance:

  • Current final adjudication of TS clearance with SCI eligibility.

Experience:

  • Minimum of ten years of experience as a military test pilot or flight test engineer.
