Position Summary

Our customer MIT LL is looking for a Structural  and opto-mechanical engineering support for various Level 1 and conventional programs. The Structural & Thermal-Fluids Engineering Group provides innovative multidisciplinary engineering solutions though the development of advanced mechanical and aerospace technologies for sea, ground, air, and space-based prototype systems for national security applications

Responsibilities

Perform structural analyses and testing for high performance sensors and payloads in a space environment. Use of finite element analysis to predict mechanical response quantities including displacements and stress to meet structural integrity and mechanical system requirements. Specific analyses include predicting the structural response and behavior due to inertial and pressure loads, thermal environments, harmonic and random vibration disturbances, and shock environments. The candidate must have experience specifically using NASTRAN commercial finite element software. The candidate should have experience with vibration and shock testing to characterize, anchor, and validate models as well as to perform environmental testing.

Qualifications

Required Skills:
-Structural engineering experience with high performance sensors for space environment
-Structural analysis using Nastran
-Vibration and shock testing experience
-Opto-mechanical engineering experience
-Masters degree is required.

Preferred Skills:
-Experience with Nastran finite element modeling software
-Masters and/or PhD is preferred.

-Partial remote/partial onsite. Candidate should expect to be onsite 3 days/week. The person should be local to the project for start date.

Please note: Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as the Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
