Position Summary

Our customer MIT LL is looking for a Network Engineer to support the Network Communications & Data Center team (NCDC) for the Laboratory production networks. NCDC is seeking a network engineer to contribute to the engineering team supporting the production network environment.  Position is located in Lexington,MA

Responsibilities

This candidate will be part of the engineering team in NCDC responsible for day to day tasks on the network equipment
-- Provide third level support to operations resolving help desk tickets assigned to the network team.
-- Manages lifecycle of various network hardware.
-- Assist in the troubleshooting and diagnosis of network related issues.
-- Mentor the network operations team with new network deployments.

Required Skills:
Deep understanding of network technologies
-- Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, SNMP protocols
-- Deep working knowledge and general use of at least 3 of the following network technology
-- Juniper routing and switching
-- Juniper and Palo Alto firewalls
-- F5 application delivery controllers
-- WiFi technology, preferably Aruba
-- At least 8 to 10 years of experience in implementing network solutions

 

Qualifications

Basic scripting skills and familiarity with monitoring tools (Ansible, Python).
-- Ability to work analytically in a problem solving environment.
-- Excellent customer service skills
-- Ability to learn new technologies and disciplines quickly
-- Juniper or Palo Alto certifications

Work from home:
Majority of the work can be done remotely. Onsite work will be determined by hiring manager.

On call rotation:
There may be the potential for on call between 7am-7pm, 1 week every 12 weeks. Final decision TBD.

Clearance:
Willing to review candidates who can obtain a clearance.

Please note: Final compensation for this position will be determined by various factors such as the Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
